The Akron fire administration was approaching nearly 25 years without a firehouse. Fire Station No. 4 was one of the first to be rebuilt using funds from the Issue 4 ballot that passed in 2017.
The new 38,000 SF fire station includes a six-bay truck dock, tornado shelter, administrative offices, and a large training center. The two-story structure consists of exterior CMU and brick bearing walls supporting pre-fabricated wood trusses in the truck dock. The training facility structure consists of steel beam girders and columns supporting bar joist and a slab on deck.
