Canton Timken High School – Physical Education & Commons Building

Canton, OH
$11.0 M
HIGHLIGHTS

The addition to Canton Timken High School included a 41,000 SF physical education facility and a 58,000 SF Commons Building. The Physical Education Building included a fitness room, wrestling room, and a gymnasium with a running track suspended from barrel vault roof trusses. The Commons Building connected the existing high school to the existing Freshman Academy Building, and  included classrooms, computer labs, reading and circulation, and a cafeteria with a  two-story atrium.

Steel columns and reinforced masonry were used to support the steel beam and joist framed roof and floors. Lateral loads from wind and seismic forces were resisted by ordinary reinforced masonry shear walls.
