Butler County Community College serves west-central Pennsylvania with nearly 2,000 students with campuses in four county locations. BC3 continually ranks as one of Pennsylvania top community colleges.
The one-story 15,000 SF classroom building was constructed on the original Ford City junior/senior high school site. A uniquely framed entrance (with sloping columns) is located at each end of the building to provide maximum community access. The floor elevation was positioned above the current flood plain elevation. The structural system utilizes a combination of steel beams, interior steel columns, open web wood/steel joists, reinforced masonry shear walls, perimeter cold-formed metal framing bearing/shear walls supported by shallow foundations.
