St. Vincent College – Hospitality Hub

Latrobe, PA
$16 M
HIGHLIGHTS

The building features include a glass entrance canopy and brick portal with concealed lintel system. Construction is occurring over and near the original Basilica, which was constructed in 1905. Around the 1960s, a fire destroyed a majority of the area where the new building was to be located. Reconstruction of the area has occurred over many decades in multiple phases. From a structural and architectural perspective, tying in new construction has presented its challenges.

The Hospitality Hub includes a new one-story dining facility, a one-story connecting corridor (at Level 2) constructed between the new dining facility and Anselm Hall (above an existing one-story structure), a two-story kitchen addition, a one-story addition constructed over Anselm Hall, and minor structural renovations within the existing Community Center. The new dining hall addition uses a unique moment frame structure to create an open skylight monitor. A similar monitor structure will be constructed over the existing Community Center skylights.
